Seeking Little Kids Rock, USA - National Program Director

An exciting opportunity in the New York City area: Ligature Partners
Inc. has been retained by Little Kids Rock to conduct a search for a
National Program Director.  Little Kids Rock (LKR) is a non-profit
organization based in Cedar Grove, NJ (just outside NYC) which brings
modern rock music instruction and free instruments to public schools
with high concentrations of low-income students.  They currently reach
more than 78,000 children in grades K-12 in eleven states.  Through
partnerships with school districts, LKR is able to work with teachers
to train them on its innovative curriculum-which is built around rock,
pop, rap, hip-hop, funk, blues and reggae-and supply them with
instruments in order to inspire young people and support their
students' self-expression, self-confidence and creativity.

The National Program Director will be responsible for establishing new
high-level relationships with school district administrators, as well
as nurturing existing relationships to foster program growth and
improvement.  He/she will be responsible for setting the vision and
action plan for the training of teachers, and for managing a budget
and the program staff.

The ideal candidate will be an inspirational, charismatic educator
with the ability to build high-level relationships within public
school districts.  He/she will have exceptionally strong interpersonal
and communication skills.  Experience with classroom teaching or
administration within a public school system, as well as non-profit
management experience is highly desirable.  The individual should be
at least proficient on guitar, electric bass, drums or electronic
keyboards.  A master's or doctoral degree is preferred, and formal
academic pedigree in some aspect of music will be considered a plus.
